With the advent of the 21st century, the frequency of global crises has significantly increased. First, there were the 9/11 attacks, which marked the beginning of a worldwide collective psychological terror, followed by the global financial crisis of 2007-08, accompanied by socio-economic shock and a prolonged recession. Many countries had not yet rehabilitated from the economic crisis when the world was hit by the Covid-19 pandemic, which on its part, is another difficult test and challenge for humanity. Considering that global cataclysms became permanent and the time span between cycles of crisis has been reduced, now, as never before, it is necessary to develop an inclusive model of world peace based on scientific thought. Norwegian sociologist Johann Galtung holds a prominent place among researchers following this path.

Galtung’s theoretical and conceptual achievements are as equally fascinating as his practical experience in conflict resolution. He has participated in mediation of over one hundred conflict resolution processes; Through his work, a number of conflicts were prevented, and tensions were eased, resulting in saving many lives. He established a new discipline in science known as Peace Studies. His core theoretical piece was published in 1971 within his work – The Structural Theory of Imperialism – in which he offers a new analysis of the world system.
